Weight Watchers can make it easier to track the foods you eat and your physical activity. To join, start by choosing a subscription plan that's right for you. Once you decide on a subscription, select a payment plan before setting up your official Weight Watchers profile.

Part 1

Part 1 of 3:

Choosing a Subscription Plan

  1. 1

Access the Weight Watchers website to look at the subscription plans. Go online to https://www.weightwatchers.com/ to read all the details concerning each subscription plan. The website will explain how each plan differs and will list the pricing as well.

    • The 3 different plans should show up right on the home page, or you can click "Get Started" at the top of the screen.
  2. 2

Select the OnlinePlus plan for access to the app and website. OnlinePlus will let you track all of your food and exercise online while also giving you over 4,000 recipe ideas. You can also communicate with other Weight Watchers members through online chatting.[1]

    • This plan costs $4.22 USD per week, as of February 2018.

  3. 3

Pick the Meetings plan for online access and in-person meetings. With the Meetings plan, you’ll get everything that’s included in the OnlinePlus plan, as well as in-person meetings. These meetings happen weekly and are a chance for you to get support from other members trying to lose weight while also learning strategies from an expert.[2]

    • Your meeting location will be a local spot near you designated for Weight Watchers meetings.
    • You can type in your zip code on the Weight Watchers website to find the exact meeting locations, including the specific address and meeting time.
    • The Meetings plan costs $7.99 USD per week, as of February 2018.
  4. 4

Opt for the Coaching plan to get 1-on-1 personal coaching. The Coaching plan lets you use the app and website just like the OnlinePlus plan. You’ll also get a personal coach who will help design a plan for your specific lifestyle. You can talk to your coach as much as you’d like through phone calls and messages.[3]

    • This plan does not include access to the meetings.
    • This plan costs $12.69 USD per week, as of February 2018.
  5. 5

Choose a payment installment option. Once you’ve chosen whether you’d like the OnlinePlus, Meetings, or Coaching plan, you’ll need to decide your payment plan. You can purchase each plan in 1-month, 3-month, or 6-month installments.[4]

    • If you choose the 3-months option, you’ll get a month free (but not the first month).
    • If you select the 6-months choice, you’ll get the very first month free.
    • Note that this is the policy as of February 2018, and may change in the future.

Creating Your Account

  1. 1

Fill in your personal information. Once you’ve chosen your subscription and installment plan, you’ll need to fill in information such as your first and last name and your email address. You’ll also need to create a username and password for the site.[5]

    • Usernames need to be at least 6 characters long.
    • Your password should be at least 8 characters long, including at least 1 letter and 1 number.
  2. 2

Add your payment details. You can either pay for your subscription via a credit card or through PayPal. Fill in the information for your credit card number or PayPal account, and then type in your billing address.[6]

Part 3

Part 3 of 3:

Using the Account

  1. 1

Set up your Weight Watchers Profile. After you’ve officially joined Weight Watchers, you’ll be able to start filling out more personal information such as your current weight and your goal weight. You’ll be asked more questions that will help determine your point system.[8]

    • Some of the questions you’ll be asked may include what foods you normally eat, how many days a week you’re active, and how you spend your time most days.
    • Your points are also based on your height, weight, age, and gender.
  2. 2

Track your SmartPoints when eating. When you log on to your Weight Watchers profile, you'll see a food log. This is where you can log all of the foods you're eating each day, making sure that you stay within your allotted number of SmartPoints.[9]

    • The website and app will allow you to see how many points each food item is worth. This includes many restaurant options, Weight Watchers recipe dishes, and general foods.
    • The SmartPoints system is designed to encourage you to eat more healthy fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins while avoiding sugary, unhealthy foods.
  3. 3

Earn FitPoints by doing physical activity. Your profile will also show you an activity log where you can keep track of the physical activity you're doing. You'll want to aim to complete your FitPoints personal goal each day.[10]

    • To earn FitPoints, you'll log the amount of time you spent doing physical activity.
  4. 4

Chat with other Weight Watchers members using Connect. Connect is the virtual spot where you can create posts about your weight loss journey while reading and responding to other people's posts as well. If you chose the OnlinePlus subscription plan, you will be given access to Connect both on your computer and through the app.[11]

    • You can find Connect at the top of "My Day" on your account profile.
  5. 5

Use recipes to cook healthy meals. Your Weight Watchers account will give you access to tons of different recipes that you can use to create healthy meals. These recipes will also tell you how many SmartPoints each dish is worth so that you can track your food.[12]

  6. 6

Find meeting locations using the online meeting finder. Go to https://www.weightwatchers.com/us/find-a-meeting/ to find Weight Watchers meetings near you. Type your zip code into the search box and it will list local meeting spots as well as the dates and times that the meetings happen.

    • If you need to switch to a different meeting location, you can do this by simply looking up other meetings in your area.
  7. 7

Choose a personal coach if you opted for the Coaching plan. Click on the coaching tab after you've logged in to your Weight Watchers profile. Answer a few questions about yourself and your goals, and you'll be given a list of coaches to choose from, including their bios and picture.

    • You'll be asked about your goal weight, any health issues you may have, and what times you're available during the day.
  8. 8

Download the Weight Watchers app. This app will help you track your SmartPoints and FitPoints on-the-go. Go to the app store on your phone and type in "Weight Watchers." The app will have a blue and white logo with 2 W's.[13]

    • The app is included in your payment plan, so you won't need to pay extra.
    • You can chat with others using Connect and look up recipes on the app as well.
  9. 9

Cancel your Weight Watchers subscription, if desired. The easiest way to cancel your subscription is to log in to your account online and find the tab that says "Cancel my account." Follow the instructions, typing in the necessary information, before submitting the cancellation.

    • You can cancel your subscription by email through this link: http://www.weightwatchers.com/help/cancel_viaemail.aspx.
    • You can also call the Weight Watchers customer service line at 800-651-6000 to cancel.
    • You may not receive a refund for the month in which you cancel, but if you had a plan that required automatic payment for months after that, you will be refunded for the next month(s).
