What is the best empire to start with in Stellaris? ›

Early in the game you won't need to worry about Empire Size at all. As long as it's one hundred or less, it has no effect. For every point of Sprawl above a hundred, however, the cost of Technologies increases by one tenth of a percent and the cost of Traditions increases by one fifth of a percent.

Fallen Empires use a unique ship and station appearance which is mostly exclusive to them; there are visual variants of this style and different weapon and component selections for each type of Fallen Empire, but the general number of slots is about equal.

Victory can only be achieved by conquering all colonized systems of the opposition, ending the opposing empire. If a defeated empire had starbases in uncolonized systems that were not conquered, they are removed, making the territory neutral again. Each side keeps all conquered systems.

You pretty much chose two of the hardest nations out there. There are much easier ones, France starts in a very good position. As does the UK. If you're into something that doesn't do navy, doesn't do war, just internal development, Russia is a good nation.

The Screk Empire is perhaps one of, if not the oldest, known interstellar nations in the whole Milky Way, one that predates even the ancient polities such as the Vran, the Ti-Zru and the Baanthurians.

Fallen Empires will send their fleets against a Crisis if it approaches their borders and may even awaken to help fight it. In general, crisis factions are removed from diplomacy and cannot be negotiated with like common empires.

And if you bombard fortifications to 0 you deal double damage. 12 armies should be enough for a size 20 planet, but it's gonna be a while and you'll probably suffer casualties. I usually start with 20+ assault armies, with sizes increasing as the game goes on.

Scion is a powerful origin and an excellent starting pick for new players, as there are many bonuses and few downsides (aside from being the subject of one of the most powerful empires in the galaxy).

The Prosperity Tradition provides the player with a series of economic boosts, beginning with a decent bonus to Mining Station outputs. Better yet is the reduction of building costs, allowing the player to create new districts on the cheap, scaling up their empire very quickly from humble beginnings.

Trade league is the obvious and the best choice when you play a trade build. Martial alliance is very good in multiplayer. Galactic union is kind of the option for when you dont fulfill the requirements for any other typ of federation. Hegemony is kind of a meme but can be very good too.
